Provision of professional and social support for breastfeeding entails accurate and timely information, education and encouragement enabling mothers to have the breastfeeding experience, she and her child needs. Humane care during childbirth, advice, reassurance, affirmation, hands-on assistance, and practical tips will all boost the confidence of parents to nurture their children.
To support breastfeeding, this project aims to create the training program standards and regulations of breastfeeding counselors, lactation specialists and massage specialists for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers that will be recognized under the Ladderized Interface between Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Higher Education (HE) of TESDA. The TVET system was institutionalized through Executive Order 358 that was signed by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo last September 15, 2004. This will facilitate the:
- Training of advocates, breastfeeding counselors and lactation specialists
- Establishment of breastfeeding clinics and breastfeeding stations
- Establishment of Breastfeeding-friendly workplaces under our Corporate Lactation Support Program
