Protecting breastfeeding calls for all complementary foods to be marketed in ways that do not undermine exclusive and sustained breastfeeding beyond two years.
Our government being a signatory to the international agreement has its responsibilities in implementing the International Code and the Philippine laws that protect breastfeeding.
The activities of this pillar are:
- To ensure the strict adherence of the healthcare system especially medical professionals to the laws that protect breastfeeding and in observing the international standard of ethics.
- To train advocates who will continuously monitor compliance of milk and babyfood companies, producers of bottles, pacifiers and teats of the laws so as not to undermine the Filipino parent’s decision to breastfeed.
