Overall Project Goals

  • To establish the event as a form of universal prayer for peace and thanksgiving for the gift of motherhood and breastfeeding. Click here to read the prayer
  • To elevate the status of breastfeeding as a social norm and a status symbol even among professionals and the upper class.
  • To encourage mothers to sustain breastfeeding as they attend the affair every year and reach the goal to breastfeed beyond two years.
  • To educate parents and the general public en masse on the benefits of breastfeeding and the hazards of formula-feeding, the use of bottles, teats and pacifiers by not allowing the said paraphernalia in the venue.
  • To emphasize the international standard of ethics observed by the global breastfeeding movement NOT to partner with milk companies, manufacturers of baby food, bottles, teats and pacifiers.
  • To make a permanent and on-going roster of the national records of each nation on simultaneous breastfeeding in a single site and in multiple sites, urging each nation to surpass its own record every succeeding year.
  • To establish cooperation between nations, each nation competing with its own record. The Organizers will keep a roster of achievements of every nation: (a) its record for a single site, (b) its record for multiple sites, (c) the national record for breastfeeding mothers per million population as the true measure of their effort and achievement, (d) the overall record for each Time Zone, and (e) above all, overall worldwide record for each year.

Venue-based Goals

In restaurants, churches, community centers
and shopping malls, it:
  • Breaks the social taboo to breastfeed in public.
  • Asserts the right of mothers to breastfeed anywhere and anytime.
  • Nurtures a fellowship among breastfeeding mothers in their locality that may facilitate the formation of mother support groups.
In schools and daycare centers, it:
  • Educates children and youth on the advantages of breastfeeding and the hazards of formula-feeding.
  • Provides concrete images for children and youth to imbibe breastfeeding as the norm, the only natural process to feed infants and young children.
  • Instills the need to support breastfeeding mothers among children and youth.
In workplaces, it
  • Educates employers and co-employees on the benefits of breastfeeding and the need to support breastfeeding mothers.
  • Nurtures a fellowship among breastfeeding mothers at the workplace that may facilitate the formation of mother support groups.
  • Opens channels of human, logistic and financial assistance from companies to breastfeeding groups to support, promote and protect breastfeeding.
  • Provides a good public relations image for the company.
